This just in from Google: the Art Project. It's a project that took many, many months and developed in partnerships with museums around the world. And it's really cool.

From the comfort of your browser, you can tour select rooms from a list of museums. Find a piece that you like? Click the plus button to get more information about it. Use the zoom tool to get up close and personal (even closer than the gallery guards would let you). It's amazing how they captured the strokes, canvas, even cracked paint in these detailed images!

Paper Doll - Photoshop Style

I found this both amusing and impressive. This guy takes high resolution photos of WWII militaria and insignia to create Photoshop images of himself in the Captain's uniform of both axis and allied armed forces.

Among my favorite features are the ever-changing facial hair and the way each uniform gives him a different personality.

Love words? Love art? Love helping people?

You've probably already heard of this site, but I just discovered the art portion a few days ago. FreeRice.com is a site that asks you multiple choice questions regarding a subject of your choosing (though the default is vocabulary words), and for every answer you get right, they donate 10 grains of rice to the United Nations World Food Program. Pretty simple, and pretty addicting. You'll feed a whole community before you know it! And while you're at it, you'll get to use all that knowledge from your art history classes.

Photo Realism...in 3D

This artist is, in my opinion, incredible. Called "The Invisible Man," he paints himself to match the background and almost disappears in each photograph.


"I experienced the dark side of society, without social relations, and had a feeling that no one cared about me, I felt myself unnecessary in this world," said Liu Bolin. I think his art expresses that quite well. See more images here.

Amazing painter. Watch till the end or you won't "get it". It is worth the wait.

Coffee Fun

What a simple medium for serendipity! I loved the way the layers built up upon each other. One small cup of coffee = hours of fun at work! I'd love to do this one again, with better paper that absorbs the coffee better!









It was interesting to see how dark we could get the coffee to be. I also enjoyed the way you could "see" things in the coffee- like looking at clouds!
