Auto-Tune the News

While this is a creative way to get people to watch the news ... I'm mostly impressed with/scared by the capability of auto-tuning. Certainly the musical ability requirements for today's artists are changing.

Sorry. Sidenote.

The video is a humorous interpretation of a live news interview with a woman who witnessed an attempted convenience store robbery. As expected, robbers came in with guns, but the surprise ending is the store clerk pulled out his own gun and no robbery was committed!

The celebratory ending is my favorite. But be warned, the chorus will get stuck in your head.

Chalk Board Art

This artist is amazing!! Dana Tanamachi creates typography and large scale designs on chalk boards for different events, mostly weddings.

"I love starting out on a clean wall, climbing up on a ladder, sketching with broad strokes, refining the letterforms, adding little details, etc. It’s a chance for me to take a break from the computer and create something purely by hand. I’m such a crafter at heart!"

Here's her process.

Happy New Year!

The folks at Smashing Magazine have put together another great collection of desktop backgrounds for January 2011. I like the comical take on "out with the old, in with the new" in the above background.

So take a gander at their selection and pick your favorite (you're sure to find some inspiration along the way...).
